I tie all my flies on fly hooks from Montana Fly Company, Daiichi, Gamakatsu, and Partridge. I pride myself on tying on the strongest, sharpest hooks available. I have personally tested every hook model and size I use to tie steelhead and salmon flies on Lake Ontario chinook salmon and some large carp to ensure that these flies will hold up and not straighten out when you need them the most.

I tie most of my flies on hooks that come from the factory barbed. While every fly in my personal box is barbless I know a number of fly anglers who prefer barbed hooks for various reasons, therefore, I only de-barb on customer request.
